Olympic sized furniture arrives at former London 2012 Athletes Village

June 11, 2015

Get Living London today unveiled an alfresco ‘Living Room’ for East Village on the forecourt of its on-site Management Office. The scheme, in partnership with The Edible Bus Stop®,  saw huge wooden furniture, such as oversized wooden armchairs and sofas brought to the area and surrounded by enormous orange plant pots in which trees have been planted. The furniture is made from Kebony wood, a Norwegian sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood.

The striking installation will act as a contemporary Village Green – a place to interact and grow with the community.

Residents at the former Athletes’ Village and local people also have the chance to get involved with the installation by interacting with the backdrop to the ‘Living Room’ – a large planted 3D graphic, reading ‘#MyE20’ which was recently installed during a community planting day with herbs ready for East Village residents to pick for their evening meals or summer cocktails. By posting a #MyE20 ‘Living Room’ selfie* entrants can win the ultimate East Village experience – a night’s stay in one of the formerly Olympic homes with dinner for two plus two tickets to one of our East Village Summer Film Festival screenings in August.

*To enter, take a selfie in our new ‘Living Room’ before Monday 13 July and include #mye20 and mention @GetLivingLDN or @EastVillageLDN in Facebook, Twitter or Instagram post.
