What’s currently happening at The Filigree?

In early 2025, we experienced a major leak caused by a burst mains water pipe, which led to flooding in the underground energy centre. This meant that water and power was cut off from the site.

Following detailed assessments, the damaged incoming water pipe has now been replaced, allowing water to be gradually reintroduced across the estate. Work to replace key equipment and materials in the energy centre will begin imminently. As this is complex, underground work, it will take some time, and although we can’t confirm a reopening date yet, our current aim is for mid to late 2026.

Community impact in Lewisham

We’re proud to support the community through local partnerships, helping make a positive impact where it matters most.

Lewisham Youth Theatre – 2025 impact

£20,000 support from Get Living

LYT created two cohorts of Theatre Makers, ages 11 – 18, who developed writing and devising skills to create work that is relevant to them and the local community. Participants worked with professional playwrights and theatre practitioners to create a collection of ‘one-room dramas’.

The programme focused on dramatic writing techniques that amplified the voices of the participants and shared their perspectives of Lewisham. Participants worked with local community groups for their pieces of work. The project was led by LYT’s Executive Creative Director, Monique Uwiragiye, a playwright, director and actor.

Lewisham Youth Theatre – 2024 impact

£10,000 support from Get Living

Get Living supported Lewisham Youth Theatre (LYT) to deliver their Creative Hub Playwriting project for 30 young people aged 12–19. The programme developed confidence, teamwork and creative self-expression through work with professional creatives. Participants strengthened their connection to the community, built leadership skills and raised their aspirations.

Around 60 local residents experienced the work through performances, helping challenge perceptions of young people. Wraparound support enabled participants to progress into further opportunities with LYT and beyond.

Inspiring Lewisham Community Fund 2024

£10,000 to Mads do & Mend (complete)

Get Living supported Mads do & Mend CIC to deliver a sustainable fashion and mending hub for 60 young people aged 11–18 in Lewisham. The programme focused on teens facing economic disadvantage and social barriers, offering weekly workshops in clothing repair and refashioning.

Participants gained practical skills, saved money and explored creative self-expression while learning about sustainability. The project built confidence and encouraged climate-positive behaviour by reducing waste and extending the life of garments.
