East Village gets tennis fever for E20 Fair

Victory Park was taken over by tennis enthusiasts last weekend for the Wimbledon-themed East Village E20 Fair.

A giant screen was erected in the park to show the final, and the park scattered with beanbags for people to get comfortable ahead of the big match – and they did, in their hundreds.

With food stalls offering strawberries & cream, shrimp burgers, grilled chicken wraps, a Pimms Mini, marshmallows, cakes and East Village’s own Bottle Apostle and ¬†Firezza offering gin and tonics, white port and pizza, there was something for everyone. Allotment Olympicks were also there to provide games for the youngsters of E20, and the park was even decorated with streamers and tennis balls!

With the park at capacity for much of the game despite inclement weather predictions, when the heavens did eventually open it wasn’t enough to deter many of the die hard tennis fans who propped umbrellas over their beanbags and continued to cheer!
