Artist Exhibition Space in East London

Get Living has partnered with Hypha Studios, a charity matching creatives with empty spaces for free, to reimagine Sainsbury’s former store into a unique space for emerging, local, artistic talent.

Hypha Studios in East Village will host two exhibitions simultaneously which are free to attend Thursday – Sunday, 12 – 6pm.

Follow Hypha Studios on Instagram for more regular updates.

  • (Un)done, curated by Gabby Zhong and Hyunah Kim
Introduces the work of recent MAFA 2023 graduates from Central Saint Martins. Delving beneath the surface, these emerging artists navigate themes that are as diverse as their backgrounds: memory, cultural identity, the female perspective, corporal disability, and urban decay.
  • Corpus Delicti, curated by Ivet Monova
CORPUS DELICTI, translated from Latin is the BODY OF THE CRIME – it is designed to protect the coerced or those vulnerable to false confessions. Potentially, preventing convictions of crimes not yet proven to have occurred. For this show, Ivet Monova has curated artists with a wide range of thematic practices such as: life cycles, heritage, paradoxes, modern horror, internet esotericism, automatism, boundaries, polarities, folk, loss, worship within a trans experience, and more.

  • Garden of Souls, curated by Tatiana De Stempel, Liza Burton & Jessica Wan
An exhibition by women & non-binary artists whose artworks address the need for climate action. Bringing together artists from different backgrounds and generations, the artworks include painting, photography, performance, film, and sculpture, and speak to the connection between intersectional feminism and climate justice. There will be a making a food still life and plant workshop.
  • Free Art School E20, curated by Lindsay Mapes & Anna Harding
An exhibition making creativity accessible and enjoyable for everyone in the E20 neighbourhood. Local people are encouraged to have a go at many forms of creating, through free workshops run by exhibiting artists. All exhibitors share an interest in community building and education and have an interdisciplinary practice e.g. voice and painting, location-specific writing and installation, furniture design and waste, public art and painting, VR and immersive engagements.
