Trend Update – Best of British design at London’s newest neighbourhood

October 5, 2017

3rd July 2014: With the Great British Summer now upon us, it is time for interiors to give a subtle nod of support to a home-grown aesthetic by showcasing British designed products. As a nation we have flirted in recent years with all things Scandinavian, thanks to the ever-useful Ikea. However, it has been easy to forget the strength of British designed products and interiors.

For new residents of Get Living London’s private rental homes at East Village(former London 2012 Athletes’ Village), the best of British theme is an easy one to adopt. The residential owner has appointed acclaimed designersWayne Hemingway MBE, Gerardine Hemingway MBE and Tilly Hemingwayto lead the furnishing and interior design for its range of homes, and to create a series of complimentary furnishing packages for those renting the new homes, with a central design ethos to feature the best of British design.

Many of the packages feature key pieces by leading British designers, including Matthew Hilton (Designer of the Year at the 2008 British Design Awards), iconic British heritage brand G Plan, and products from HemingwayDesign’s own range. Statement pieces from the G Plan Vintage label, designed by Tilly Hemingway for the iconic British furniture brand, are inspired by the G Plan archive from the 50s and 60s.

Wayne Hemingway explains the importance for East Village of using British designed and produced products for the home:

“East Village is a wonderful legacy, the first legacy neighbourhood in fact, to result from London 2012. The Olympics painted Britain in a wonderful light, introducing the world to the best of British, so it was only right to try and furnish the Get Living London homes with a Designed and Made in Britain philosophy .The UK is now widely regarded as the world’s most creative nation and there is a wealth of great design to choose from. UK manufacturing is also experiencing resurgence and to be able to support that and help with job creation is another reason why this project has been such a joy.”

Whilst enjoying high-quality furnishings hand-picked by HemingwayDesign, renters at Get Living London’s new homes need not worry about missing any of the World Cup matches thanks to a special partnership with Sky TV. Renters can enjoy a special half price offer on Sky’s TV Entertainment packwhich features over 35 channels. Sky will ensure the service is installed before residents move in, ensuring great TV is ready to go the moment renters arrive.

Get Living London has new homes to suit everyone, from 1 and 2-bedroom apartments for young professionals and couples, to 3 and 4-bedroom apartments and townhouses for sharers and families, with all homes right on the doorstep of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Homes are available to rent with no fees or hidden costs; long-term tenancies of 1-3 years with the flexibility of resident-only break clauses; andno agents or middlemen, just a direct relationship with the Get Living London team who are based on site 7 days a week to quickly respond to residents’ needs.
