The go-to fashion rental platforms to check out now

We bring you the newest and coolest fashion rental services for a more stylish and sustainable wardrobe.

A new wave of smoking-hot fashion rental services has made renting clothes sexy. It’s straightforward, wallet friendly and boy do they hit the spot.  At Get Living, we’ve been advocates of simple and straightforward renting from day dot. From our homes to our cars, our music and now our wardrobes, renting equals more flexibility, more variety and getting more out of life.

It’s time to get your hands on the hottest wardrobe quickly, without a piece of fast fashion in sight…

LOANHOOD.

This savvy new-starter was dreamed up and brought to fruition by three Hackney based fashion girls, Jen Charon, Lucy Hall and Jade McSorley (former Britain’s Next Top Model). Working in the fashion industry they came together to combat the negative affects they could see fast-fashion was having on the planet.

Cue LOANHOOD – this peer-to-peer rental market app is targeted at fashion loving millennials and Gen-Z. It’s goal? A trusted, community driven rental platform to build a circular economy of fashion savvy ‘Loaners’ and ‘Borrowers’. To allow us all to wear more, while buying less. PLUS they chose East Village to pilot their app.

The process is simple: snap, post and swap garms. Clothes can be mailed or there’s the choice to meet up in person for the exchange, saving on carbon emissions and connecting you to your local community. Fees for rentals are approximately 20% of the garments original price for a 7-day clothing rental, which makes this a very affordable way to enjoy some new high street, limited and luxury fashion – and for the loaners – a natty little side hustle. There’s also a cute little feature to upload and rent entire looks which allows loaners to really show-off their styling pizzaz.

‘It’s the app we wish we had when we were in our 20s. For us, clothes rental seems like the next logical step to help combat the issue and it also provides people really exciting opportunity for people to test out different styles without fearing the financial commitment of a whole new wardrobe.” Says co-founder Jen.

The app launches in October. But get signed up via LOANHOOD for first dibs.

AND don’t miss LOANHOOD’s stylish takeover of The Lab E20, East Village’s space for community creativity and sustainable living.  This month LOANHOOD brings a host of epic events to the space including pop-up rental shops, clothes swapping, street-style photography classes, repair-and-rave workshops to teach us how to restore and re-love the clothes we have, movie nights and so much more. See the full LOANHOOD x The Lab E20 October calendar to secure your tickets ASAP.

HURR Collective.

When we got served up ads for HURR fronted by the fabulous face of (ultimate girl crush) –  @emmabreschi and chums we were ready to buy everything we’d laid our eyes on. So, you can imagine our excitement to find that HURR was actually a player in this positively trending rental space. Which is even better, because now we really can wear ALL of the clothes – without having to deplete our rainy-day funds.

HURR’s marketing campaign has totally smashed-it-out of the sartorial park, with big smiles, exaggerated puff-sleeves and accessible cool-girl styling and it makes us want to ‘get dressed’ again.

From Chanel and Fendi to Ganni and MSGM, the designer list is long. There’s a useful tool that allows you to browse by occasion and there’s even a bridal rental curation. Plus, you can even borrow clothing from the wardrobes of featured style setters, see: Stacey Dooley and Lucy Williams.

Items are rented out in: 4, 8, 10 and 20 day slots. So, whether it’s a jacket you fancy road-testing for an entire month this winter or a dress you want to take away for a weekend. You got options.

HURR’s eco-friendly, dry-cleaning service means that clothes always turn up beautifully fresh and you don’t have to get them cleaned yourself before you return your rental – bonus.

Once the rental is up and the product returned the lender receives their rental payment. There’s also a clever little clothing rental calculator on the site so you can see how much you’d make form listing a product of your own.

Download the HURR app and start renting on-the-go. Visit the pop-up at Selfridges London (where you can also rent pieces from Selfridges’ archive!) And get all the inspiration you could need to get dressed this season on their stylish blog, The Download.
